INFO FOR MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

Mechanical Engineering:

Mechanical Engineers are present in virtually every industry.  Most fundamentally, they apply the principles of two of the fields of physics -- Mechanics and heat -- to the design of machines.  Heat is the principal form in which we utilize energy, so Mechanical Engineering is fundamental to all processes in which energy is created and used.  A few of the myriad activities in which Mechanical Engineers engage are engine design for autos, jets, diesel locomotives, or lawnmowers; rocket propulsion; combustion research; rapid transit systems; earthmoving machinery; air conditioning systems; wind and solar energy devices; aerospace vehicles; and turbines for electric power generation.

  1. Thanks for this elementary definition of mechanical engineering. Pretty useful for my 7-yeare-old kid asking me about aerospace hardware and the likes. Good job on your wording.
