Materials Engineering:  

Materials Engineers design and develop new materials with improved characteristics using the knowledge gained by materials scientists, who are concerned with the understanding of the properties and behavior of materials.  These Engineers are involved with such things as the investigation of fractures, fatigue, corrosion damage, radiation damage, and methods of production of new materials.
